The wave resistance caused by a point load steadily moving on an infinitely extended viscoelastic plate floating inviscid fluid is analytically studied, which can be used to describe the response due motion of amphibious air-cushion vehicles continuous ice sheet ocean. action concentrated and distributed loads are both considered. Under assumptions that incompressible homogeneous irrotational, Laplace equation taken as governing equation. For plate, Kelvin–Voigt model employed. At plate–fluid interface, linearized boundary conditions when amplitude generated less than its wavelength. Fourier integral transform performed achieve formal solution. residue theorem applied derive flexural–gravity resistance. It indicated for with uniform rectilinear motion, shows sharp decrease increase in speed velocity greater minimum phase velocity. There no steady smaller effects different parameters obtained. Wave decreases increasing thickness, parameter, Poisson’s ratio, especially small value parameter.
